I haven’t sung since school; can I still join?If you’ve had any experience in a choir before, even if it’s only at school, then this choir is for you. We will be using sheet music and singing harmonies that are sometimes very close and ‘crunchy’ and will be looking to achieve as much musical excellence as we possibly can.
-
Do I have to be able to read music to join? You do not have to read music, however, sheet music will be used for learning the songs, so you will soon learn to be comfortable with it.
-
What do I need to bring to rehearsals?Bring water for hydration, your sheet music (either digital or hard copy – however you work best) which will be provided by Quoir and a pencil/digital pen so that you can make notes on your music.
-
Can I choose what part I sing? Our director will listen to all of the voice types and choose the best part for each singer based on range, tone and style and the overall sound of our choir.
-
What happens at a rehearsal? Each rehearsal will start with a vocal warm up and some general vocal exercises, followed by learning the musical repertoire from sheet music that you will be sent prior to rehearsal.
-
What kind of commitment is expected?Quoir is run concurrently with the school terms. Each Term there will be a ‘block’ of lessons (mostly 8 weeks) that choristers will commit to attending by way of an upfront term fee paid in full by the first week of each term. This will ensure the best possible outcome for the consistency of blend, balance and brilliance.
-
Will we have opportunities to perform?Yes! There will be public performances that we will work towards throughout the year. These will be self produced concerts as well as community based opportunities that may arise.
-
